SEO for iWebsites

SEO is one of the most essential works to maximize online effects. Without SEO works, you would not bring many traffics to your site. For example, even though your site has rich contents, and information, the contents wouldn't be exposed to potential target market or public through search engines. But, SEO is not a simple and temporary work. It may take lots of your precious time, efforts, and even patience. In my case, I also do SEO works once a week, and you must do after making a change on your site as well.

Introduction

To begin with explaining the best way of SEO for iWebsites, I would like to tell you SEO is not a temporary process, but consistent works. It is impossible to get huge traffics after going through optimized processes this tutorial will let you know. You would need to think about what purpose your website has.
If your site is just a personal or portfolio, you may not need to execute SEO works, because you will have to spend a lot of time but the effects may be just a little amount or much less than your expectation.
There is no guarantee even if you put a lot of efforts. If your site is commercial or needs many traffics, please take enough time, and try the required processes step by step. SEO tasks may annoy and exhaust you. (I also did...)

1. Add your site to search engines

If you don't notify your site to search engines, nobody can find your site through search engines. First of all, you MUST add your site to Google, Yahoo, and Bing. The most essential search engine is Google, next is yahoo, and bing.com. 90% of traffics coming from search engines would be Google. If your site is only for your local business, you may need to add your site to the most popular local search engine. For my country, South Korea, Naver.com, and Daum.net would be more powerful than Google. But, I would recommend to add to all search engines including local search engines. This job is really simple, but will take a bit of time.

  • First of all, add your website to Google
  • Once you have done to add your site to Google, you may need to do the same way for Yahoo, and Bing:
    Yahoo Site Explorer
    Bing Webmaster Tools
  • If you added your site to those search engines, search engines will index web pages in your site, then it will appear on search results by specific keywords. In this step, big patience would be required to you, because it usually takes 3-5 days to be completely registered.

2. Equip your site with essential elements

I think that iWeb was not developed for business uses but personal. The reason why I think of that is iWeb misses super important web elements such as title <title>, header <h1>,<h2>,... and meta tags. Since iWebsites don't have these essential elements, most of the websites built by iWeb are hard to be searched by search engines. On the other hand, blogger or wordpress sites are very friendly with search engines, because they provide these essential web elements which are the top factors to get many traffics. To insert them to your site, I would recommend to go through several processes.

3. Increase Page Rank by several ways

Page Rank is a google service which determines how popular an website is. There are many ways to increase PR of your site. The most important thing is to make back-links as many as possible. To do that, you can advertise your site to portal sites or utilize social networking services such as Facebook, and Twitter. For example, if someone likes or tweet a page of your site through social buttons, it will generate back-links to your site. That's why embedding social plugins is really crucial. Or using forum is also a good way. I recommend to follow these steps below:

4. Monitor and track traffics to your site consistently

As I wrote it before, SEO is not a temporary but long-term works. Both posting quality-contents and notifying them to search engines are very important. After updating your site, I would suggest to take about 10 mins for SEO. Don't forget to update “sitemap.xml” file, then notifying to search engines after publishing new pages. If you don't update sitemap file, search engines will not index newly updated pages.
